29. Repositioned-Adjective Sentence

My sentence:

The trail-weary cowboy, tired, face grey with dust, sang soft to the slow-moving cattle.

The cowboy should sing softly, but I prefer the rhythm achieved with soft. May I consider this to be "artistic license?"

Other examples:

"All things bright and beautiful,

All creatures great and small,

All things wise and wonderful,

The Lord God made them all."

From the hymn, "All Things Bright and Beautiful," lyrics by C.F. Alexander (1818-95) who based the words on Genesis 1:31, "And God saw every thing that he had made, and, behold, it was very good."

The music for this hymn was derived from a 17th century English melody.

This is also an example of: anaphora - repeating the first word of a series, a three-part representative series that is extremely parallel, and alliteration (bright and beautiful, wise and wonderful). Along with the rhyme of small and all, these four lines all end with an "l" sound. This style may not have a name, but I think it does have an effect.
